EndoRead was founded and is guided by Blair Lewis. He is one of the world’s experts in field of gastrointestinal endoscopy and is considered to be the father of capsule endoscopy. He was the primary investigator for the first clinical trial of capsule endoscopy for the small intestine and was also the primary investigator for the first clinical trial for the colon capsule. He has taught courses on capsule endoscopy including advanced courses both nationally and internationally. He has chaired the International Conference of Capsule Endoscopy on many occasions and helped coordinate the Consensus Conference statements to guide capsule usage throughout the world. Dr. Lewis is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he teaches fellows in gastroenterology how to read capsule endoscopies. He is past president of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the New York Academy of Gastroenterology. He served on the Board of Governors of the American College of Gastroenterology for 6 years. Dr. Lewis has written over 72 scientific papers and 25 chapters and he has authored 3 books; all in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. He was one of the authors of the technical document behind the American Gastroenterological Association’s position statements concerning occult and obscure GI bleeding. He is listed in the Best Doctors of America and has been listed as one of the best one hundred doctors in Manhattan. He has appeared on numerous television programs including CNN, NBC and CBS Nightly Newscasts, ABC’s 20/20, and NBC’s The Today Show.
